A truly awful day, with rain of varying intensities through in a fresh to strong and gusty southerly wind (9c)
Many of yesterday's influx were absent from St Ouen's Pond today. Seen from the shelter of the Wetland Centre were just 2 Teal, 13 Shovelers, 80 Mallard, a Little Grebe, 90 Brent Geese, 180 Stock Dove in the fields behind the Pond, 48 Great Black-backed Gulls, a Mediterranean Gull, 32 Black-headed Gulls, 2 Stonechats and a Water Pipit, with a Curlew flying over and 4 Wigeon on the Scrape. No Lapwings were seen.
Early on at Le Pulec were a Peregrine, 4 Curlews, 19 Brent Geese, a Pied Wagtail and the usual array of Rock Pipits. In St Ouen's Bay were 184 Great Black-backed Gulls and a Lesser Black-backed Gull. On the Airport football pitch were 25 Mediterranean Gulls.
The White-fronted Goose was in Grouville Marsh again and 10 Common Gulls plus 20 Redwings were at Le Catillon. At La Sente were 2 Greenshanks, 54 Redshanks, 13 Curlews, 300 Brent Geese including one pale-bellied Brent, a Yellow-legged Gull, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, 11 Common Gulls, 9 Mediterranean Gulls, and 160 Black-headed Gulls.
