
22.08.2026 An adult Sandwich Tern arriving at Petit Port MD
A fair to cloudy day in a light easterly wind (21c)
Today saw the first morning of significant Autumn migration at Noirmont. Seen through the morning there were An Ortolan Bunting, 2 Tree Pipits, 23 Yellow Wagtails, 68 Swallows, 16 Sand Martins, a Grey Heron and a juvenile Marsh Harrier, all flying over, while arriving, or on the ground, were 18 Wheatears, 3 Common Redstarts, 2 Stonechats, 2 Willow Warblers, 2 Whitethroats and 2 Ravens. Offshore there, were 4 Balearic Shearwaters, a Storm Petrel, 44 Gannets, 5 Sandwich Terns, 5 Mediterranean Gulls and 13 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
In Grouville Bay were 200+ Sandwich Terns, with another 34 seen at La Rocque Point. 3 Cattle Egrets flew over Grouville Marsh. On Grands Vaux reservoir were a Kingfisher, a Common Sandpiper, a Grey Heron and a Bullfinch, with a White Wagtail seen at Grainville. At Havre des Pas were 7 Sandwich Terns and 12 Black-headed Gulls.
On Beauport Common were 3 Stonechats, a Wheatear, a Willow Warbler and a Blackcap, with a Dartford Warbler at Gorselands. A family of 6 Ravens has been seen at Sorel over the last two days.
