05.06.2025 Stepping out with my babies. Oystercatcher with two of the three chicks currently at the Scrape MD
A cool and overcast day with showery rain this morning and more continuous rain this afternoon in a southwest wind (15c)
Seen from Grosnez early this morning, before the rain arrived, were 55 Manx Shearwaters, 6 Balearic Shearwaters, 4 Guillemots, 38 Gannets, 18 Fulmars, 6 Cormorants, 41 Shags, 24 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 11 Great Black-backed Gulls and 4 Swifts. A pale-phased Buzzard was at the Racecourse.
In the shelter of the Sandpits were 7 Tufted Duck, 3 Cormorants, 45 Swifts, 50+ Sand Martins, 10 House Martins, 2 Oystercatchers, a Cetti's Warbler and 15 Great Black-backed Gulls. A pair of Shelduck was at Petit Port.
Around the Scrape at St Ouen's Pond were 2 Shelduck with 3 chicks, a pair of Oystercatcher with 3 chicks, 2 Lapwings with one chick, a Barnacle Goose, a Tufted Duck, a Grey Heron, 4 Swifts, 10 Swallows and 5 Sand Martins.
Yesterday, at Elizabeth Castle, were a Curlew, a Little Egret, 2 adult Ravens, a Cormorant and 4 Swifts.
