Showers early on gave way to a bright but breezy day, with winds from a cool north-northwest direction.
Corbiere counts this morning, as the rain cleared, included 8 Manx Shearwaters, 5 Balearic Shearwaters, 7 Guillemots, 5 Fulmars, 59 Gannets, 31 Shags, 13 Cormorants, 2 Kittiwakes, 11 juvenile plus one adult Mediterranean Gull, 33 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 22 Great Black-backed Gulls, 3 Curlews, 3 Little Egrets, a Marsh Harrier and a Raven. At Petit Port were 21 Curlews, 12 Little Egrets, 3 Black-headed Gulls and 2 newly hatched Oystercatchers.
At St Ouen's Pond were 2 Grey Herons, 2 Pochard, a Tufted Duck, a Kestrel, a Black-headed Gull, 5 Swifts, 20+ Sand Martins and 20+ House Martins while on the Scrape were the family of Shelduck again, with the young now fledged.
Gulls were to the fore elsewhere today, starting at St Catherine's where 42, mainly adult, Mediterranean Gulls were present.In St Aubin's Bay, 112 Black-headed Gulls including 11 juveniles were at St Aubin's Fort, 28 Black-headed Gulls and 7 juvenile Mediterranean Gulls were at Beaumont and 148 Herring Gulls plus 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls were at the Gunsite.
In St Ouen's Bay, 26 Black-headed Gulls were by El Tico and a further 23 Black-headed Gulls were at La Pulente. On Jubilee Hill were 23 Great Black-backed Gulls and 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
In Grouville Bay this evening, 17 Mediterranean Gulls included 2 returning French-ringed birds, 89 Black-headed Gulls with 2 returning ringed birds, one Spanish and one Dutch, also 3 Sandwich Terns.
A male Bullfinch was seen near Rozel, on the road out to the East of the Bay.
A late report for yesterday was from the Farmer's Cricket Ground in St Martin where 2 juvenile White Wagtails, 2 Ravens and a Marsh Harrier were seen, and at Grands Vaux where a Grey Heron and Little Egret were present.
