
After a dry but overcast start, heavy rain set in to spoil the day. Mild at 11c in a fresh southerly wind.
Corbiere early this morning saw a movement of 320 Brent Geese heading south, also 2 Red-throated Divers, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, 6 Cormorants, 20 Great Black-backed Gulls and a Lesser Black-backed Gull. A single Common Dolphin was attracting attention from the few Gannets offshore, but little else. In Petit Port were 4 Curlews and varying numbers of Brent Geese which joined the southward movement.
On the beach in St Ouen's Bay on the rising tide were 65 Mediterranean Gulls, 80 Black-headed Gulls and 18 Great Black-backed Gulls. At and around St Ouen's Pond were 2 Shelduck, 53 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Ducks, 10 Pochard, 2 Little Grebes, 5 Grey Herons, 4 Snipe, 28 Lapwings, 27 Black-headed Gulls and a Mediterranean Gull, with 110 Brent Geese in the backfields. A Skylark was in song there and a Stonechat was also seen.
In Beaumont Marsh were 63
Black-headed Gulls, a
Cormorant, a
Little Egret, a
Grey Heron and a
Lesser Black-backed Gull and at St Aubin were 32
Redshanks. On Dannemarche reservoir in Waterworks Valley were 5
Tufted Ducks and a
Grey Wagtail, with a
Short-toed Treecreeper also seen. 12
Grey Herons and a
Little Egret
were at La Blinerie in St Clement.
