An overcast morning was followed by rain, biblical at times, this afternoon, mild at 11c in west backing southerly winds.
La Sente was a very popular location for birds this morning. Counts there included 560 Brent Geese, one pale-bellied Brent, a Teal, 2 Shoveler, a Wigeon, 65 Mallard, 84 Redshanks, 7 Greenshanks, 9 Curlews, 82 Cattle Egrets, 12 Little Egrets, 12 Grey Herons, 31 Common Gulls, 185 Black-headed Gulls, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and 33 Pied Wagtails! At La Rocque were 2 Great Northern Divers, a Slavonian Grebe, a Black-necked Grebe, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers and a Peregrine carrying prey.
In Beaumont Marsh were 78 Black-headed Gulls, a Cattle Egret, 3 Little Egrets, a Curlew and 2 Pied Wagtails.
Good numbers of common seabirds were on the move past Grosnez this morning, which included 236 Gannets, 126 Fulmars, 5 Razorbills, 44 Shags, 5 Cormorants, 119 Great Black-backed Gulls, 7 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 307 Herring Gulls, 4 Kittiwakes, a Black-headed Gull, 2 Peregrines and 4 Ravens, with a Harbour Porpoise and 2 Common Dolphins also seen. 3 Linnets were at Les Landes.
