21.02.2026  Lesser Black-backed Gulls are returning in numbers now, with 52 passing Grosnez this morning.

An overcast morning with moderate visibility and a wet afternoon. Mild at 11c


A good selection of birds at Beaumont Marsh through the morning included 14 pale-bellied Brent Geese, 4 Shovelers, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 35 Mediterranean Gulls, 120 Black-headed Gulls, a Snipe, a Curlew, 23 Pied Wagtails, a Sparrowhawk, 2 Buzzards, 40 Starlings and 2 Jackdaws.

c60 Mediterranean Gulls were on the Airport football pitch at first light.


On St Ouen's Pond were 150 Brent Geese, 5 Wigeon, 33 Teal, 8 Pochard, 3 Tufted Duck, 47 Shovelers, 32 Lapwings, 15 Black-headed Gulls and 2 Mediterranean Gulls. On Jubilee Hill were 3 Mediterranean Gulls, 6 Black-headed Gulls and 4 Great Black-backed Gulls.


It was mainly gulls passing Grosnez this morning and in three hours, 52 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 47 Great Black-backed Gulls and 243 Herring Gulls passed. Also seen were 31 Gannets, 21 Fulmars, 2 Brent Geese, 56 Shags, 6 Cormorants, a Peregrine, 4 Ravens, an ambitious Meadow Pipit and 2 Porpoises.


In Rue du Parcq were 35 Cattle Egrets, 7 Curlews, 30 Starlings, and 2 Pied Wagtails and in St Catherine's Woods were a Firecrest, a Grey Wagtail, 4 Long-tailed Tits, a singing Song Thrush, a drumming Great Spotted Woodpecker and 2 Jackdaws.


Several extra reports for yesterday:  On St Ouen's Pond were 26 Shovelers 10 Pochard, 5 Wigeon, 165 Brent Geese, 6 Grey Herons and 23 Lapwings. In Petit Port Bay were 23 Mediterranean Gulls, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, a Grey Heron, 31 Curlews and 124 Oystercatchers.

On Mont es Neaux were 4 Skylarks and at Le Roncier were 4 Skylarks, a Snipe, a Fieldfare and a Curlew.
