A fine day in a moderate south-easterly wind and becoming warm.
It was mainly gulls and terns moving past Corbiere this morning. Counts included 10 Balearic Shearwaters, 14 Common Scoters, a Fulmar, 19 Gannets, 33 Cormorants, 25 Shags, a Grey Heron, 1,110 Herring Gulls, most of them juveniles, 160 Black-headed Gulls, 16 Mediterranean Gulls, 2 Common Gulls, 6 Yellow-legged Gulls, 82 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 42 Great Black-backed Gulls, 239 Sandwich Terns and a Common Tern. Also seen were 3 Sanderlings, a Ringed Plover, a Common Sandpiper, 2 Peregrines, a Yellow Wagtail, a White Wagtail and 12 local Rock Pipits. At Petit Port were 336 Sandwich Terns, a Common Gull, 70 Mediterranean Gulls, a Redshank, a Whimbrel, 30 Curlews and a Common Sandpiper.
In Grouville Marsh were 30 Blackcaps, 6 Willow Warblers, 10 Chiffchaffs, 5 Reed Warblers, 8 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Whitethroats, a Kingfisher, a Marsh Harrier, 4 Buzzards and a Clouded Yellow butterfly.
A few birds heading off from Noirmont this morning included 40 Sand Martins, 30 Swallows, a Whinchat, 7 Wheatears and 22 Ravens in the large field. A Yellow Wagtail flew over Beauport. At Les Landes were a Whinchat, 5 Wheatears, 8 Stonechats, a Dartford Warbler, 30 Linnets and 3 Marsh Harriers.
On the north side of St Ouen's Pond were 2 Willow Warblers and a Sparrowhawk and in the Scrape field were 3 Wheatears.
Evening update: On Beauport Common were a Whinchat and a Whitethroat and at the Scrape were a Wheatear, 2 Teal, a Reed Warbler, a Willow Warbler and a Kingfisher. In The Sandpits were 280 Black-headed Gulls, 3 Barnacle Geese, 42 Great Black-backed Gulls and 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
Yesterday evening, 11 House Martins were at Beaumont Marsh.
