A cloudy morning, but sunny and warm this afternoon, with a high of 27C.
Passing Corbiere this morning were 240 Balearic and 15 Manx Shearwaters, 7 Guillemots, 24 Gannets, 4 Fulmars, 6 Mediterranean Gulls including 3 juveniles, 4 Black-headed Gulls and 22 Swifts. A sighting from a boat 3 miles west of Grosnez reported c2000 Shearwaters most likely Balearics.
At the Scrape, St Ouen's Pond the 2 Black-tailed Godwits are still present, 4 Lapwings still with 2 small young, 4 Oystercatchers, 2 Tufted Ducks, a juvenile Grey Heron and 8 Swallows. Staying in St Ouen's Bay, 17 Lesser and 29 Greater Black-backs along with 29 Black-headed Gulls numbers increasing now, were roosting on the beach.
At Kempt Tower Ponds , 2 Little Grebes and a singing Whitethroat. Roosting at Petit Port 12 Curlew. An impressive flock of 50+ Choughs were seen over Mourier Valley and up to 40 Ravens were noted at Rue du Pont, Trinity. A few more odds and ends, a singing Dartford Warber was heard at Gorselands and 2 Peregines and a Stonechat at Beauport Common.
Finally a bit of a Jersey rarity in the form of at least 2 Quails seen and heard in a corn field near Le Coin du Boulivot, Grouville.
