A dry but mainly cloudy day in a strong southwest wind.
It was another shearwater day off Corbiere with 877 Manx Shearwaters and 22 Balearic Shearwaters moving west in two hours this morning, Also seen there, were 80 Gannets, 29 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 23 Mediterranean Gulls, 4 Black-headed Gulls, 2 Sandwich Terns and 3 Curlews, with a Wheatear on the headland. Passing Grosnez were 19 Manx Shearwaters, and 45 Gannets.
At St Ouen's Pond this morning were 50+ Swallows, 15 House Martins and 4 Sand Martins while on the Scrape were a Ruff, a Greenshank, a Common Sandpiper, a Wheatear and a Yellow Wagtail. At Le Pulec were 32 Curlews, a Turnstone, 125 Oystercatchers and 11 Little Egrets. A Black Redstart was at Millais and 2 Firecrests were on La Rue des Fontonelles in St Ouen. A further 2 Firecrests were in Waterworks Valley.
At Grouville Marsh from first light were 2 Willow Warblers, 15 Chiffchaffs, 4 Blackcaps, 3 Bullfinches, a Water Rail, a Kingfisher, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Peregrine, a Sparrowhawk, 2 Marsh Harriers and 7 Cattle Egrets with a Glossy Ibis seen landing in a field near Les Pres Manor, but not seen later. In Grouville Bay were 83 Ringed Plovers, 13 Grey Plovers, 25 Turnstones, 3 Dunlin, a Sanderling, a Redshank, 150 Sandwich Terns, 2 Little Terns, 10 Common Terns, a Great Crested Grebe, 6 Gannets and a Wheatear. At La Rocque were 283 Sandwich Terns, 80 Oystercatchers and 7 Little Egrets and 4 Grey Herons were at La Sente.
At Grands Vaux were 2 Spotted Flycatchers, a Kingfisher and a Lesser Black-backed Gull and at Noirmont were a Wheatear and a Willow Warbler, with another Wheatear at Beauport.
Evening counts in Grouville Bay included 180 Sandwich Terns, 8 Common Terns, 19 Grey Plovers, 11 Curlews, 35 Ringed Plovers, 16 Dunlin, 17 Turnstones, 9 Sanderlings, a Greenshank, 25 Mediterranean Gulls and 17 Black-headed Gulls. In Vallee des Vaux this evening were a family of 3 young Firecrests with 2 adults.
