A morning of heavy rain and a very strong southerly wind, with showers this afternoon and the wind then in the southwest
Despite the poor conditions, a good list of birds from Les Landes included a Hen Harrier, a Wryneck, 16 Yellow Wagtails, 6 Whitethroats, a Chiffchaff, a Firecrest, 2 Whinchats, 7 Wheatears, 19 local Stonechats, 6 Dartford Warblers, 15 Meadow Pipits, 450 Linnets, a Raven, 3 Marsh Harriers, 3 Kestrels and 20 Swallows.
On or near the Scrape were a Greenshank, 60 Swallows, a Willow Warbler which was singing, a Wheatear, 20 Meadow Pipits and 7 Black-headed Gulls. In the Sandpits were a male Pochard, 9 Little Grebes, 17 Mediterranean Gulls and a Common Sandpiper and on St Ouen's Beach were a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull, 25 Great Black-backed Grebes, 6 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 4 Mediterranean Gulls and 4 Sanderlings.
Fighting the elements off Corbiere this morning were 13 Manx Shearwaters, a Balearic Shearwater, 18 Gannets, a Fulmar, 12 Shags, 2 Sandwich Terns, a Mediterranean Gull, 8 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, a Grey Heron and a Little Egret, with 2 Wheatears and 2 Ravens on the headland. 21 Curlews were in Petit Port Bay.
In Grouville Bay, as viewed from Le Hurel were 150+ Sandwich Terns, a Fulmar close in, 44 Ringed Plovers, 11 Grey Plovers, 8 Sanderlings, a Common Sandpiper, 13 Little Egrets, 9 Turnstones and 7 Greenshanks.
A Kingfisher was at Le Saie Harbour, 58 Sandwich Terns were at St Aubin and in Vallee des Vaux were a Spotted Flycatchers and 3 juvenile Firecrests with their parents.
