are already returning to our latitude, with 25 seen passing Grosnez this morning, including this pristine bird MD
A drier day, mild in cloudy conditions with a strong and gusty west-northwest wind (11c)
Around the southeast coast today, as seen from La Rocque, were 2 Black-throated Divers, a Slavonian Grebe, a Great Crested Grebe, a Gannet, a Peregrine, 43 Ringed Plovers, 66 Sanderling, 75 Dunlin, 33 Turnstones, 59 Curlews and in Robin Bay, a male Black Redstart.
At La Sente were c500 Brent Geese, 11 Common Gulls, 200 Black-headed Gulls, 77 Redshanks, 7 Greenshanks, 19 Cattle Egrets, 11 Little Egrets, 11 Grey Herons, c25 Pied Wagtails, 7 Song Thrushes and 5 Redwings.
Another busy morning at Grosnez saw, in three hours, a Black-throated Diver feeding below the light, 9 Razorbills, 2 Guillemots, 314 Gannets ( all adults), 104 Fulmars, 2 Cormorants, 22 Shags, 12 Kittiwakes, 11 Black-headed Gulls, 3 Mediterranean Gulls, a Common Gull, 25 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 110 Great Black-backed Gulls, 257 Herring Gulls, 2 Peregrines, a Raven and 2 Porpoises attracting much attention from the Gannets.
On St Ouen's Pond were 8 Pochard, 25 Shoveler, 19 Lapwings, and on the Scrape were 91 Brent Geese including 11 juveniles, and 5 Wigeon. 50+ Mediterranean Gulls were on the Airport football pitch at first light.
At Sorel was a conspiracy of 20 Ravens and on the Railway Walk near the Elephant Park was a good range of our woodland species, including a Great Spotted Woodpecker and 2 Greenfinches.
