
A mostly dry but overcast day, with showers close by. Winds were light from the South (11c)
On St Ouen's Pond and Scrape this morning were 7 Pochard, 5 Wigeon, 59 Shoveler, 3 Tufted Duck, 125 Brent Geese, 2 Little Grebes, 2 Snipe, 28 Lapwings, a pair of Marsh Harrier displaying, 2 Stonechats and a Water Pipit. In the Sandpits were 33 Tufted Duck, 5 Little Grebes and 6 Oystercatchers and at Kempt Tower pools were 4 Tufted Duck and a Water Rail. On the Airport football pitch were 20+ Mediterranean Gulls.
It was far quieter off of Grosnez today, counts there including 105 Gannets, 20 Fulmars, 3 Cormorants, 6 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 14 Great Black-backed Gulls and 143 Herring Gulls. 16 Common Dolphins were feeding offshore there again.On Les Landes were 5 Stonechats, 20 Linnets and 20 Meadow Pipits. At Plemont were 40 Meadow Pipits, but no Razorbills so far.
At La Sente were 380 Brent Geese, 2 Shoveler, a Wigeon, 14 Cattle Egrets, 6 Little Egrets, 5 Grey Herons, 55 Redshanks, 6 Greenshanks, a Curlew, 2 Snipe, 140 Black-headed Gulls, 8 Common Gulls and one Mediterranean Gull, a Song Thrush, 19 Pied Wagtails, a Marsh Harrier and 3 Ravens and at Rue Parcq were 6 Cattle Egrets. Near St Paul's FC were 12 Lesser Black-backed Gulls in amongst 100+ Herring Gulls. 17 Common Scoter, 14 Great Crested Grebes, 5 Great Northern Divers, and 2 Black-necked Grebes were in Grouville Bay.
A Great Northern Diver was feeding on Crabs in St Helier Harbour, near the St Helier Yacht Club and at Beaumont Marsh were 80 Black-headed Gulls, 4 Mediterranean Gulls, 5 Pied Wagtails, a Curlew and a Little Egret. In St Brelade's Bay were 12 pale-bellied Brent Geese and a Great Crested Grebe.
On the North of the Island, 500 Stock Doves, 100 Chaffinches, 11 Redwings, a Goldcrest and a Buzzard were at Jardin d'Olivet.
