A day of very strong and blustery westerly winds, but most showers avoided the Island.
Passing Corbiere this morning were 209 Manx Shearwaters, 38 Balearic Shearwaters, 3 Fulmars, 19 Gannets, 65 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 24 Great Black-backed Gulls, 13 Mediterranean Gulls, 13 Black-headed Gulls, 14 Sandwich Terns, 5 Cormorants, 20 Ravens and 4 Bottle-nosed Dolphins, with 2 White Wagtails on the headland and a Grey Seal near the causeway. In Petit Port Bay were 24 Curlews, 6 Mediterranean Gulls, 7 Sandwich Terns, a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull and 13 Black-headed Gulls.
Over St Ouen's Pond were hundreds of hirundines, most of them House Martins and up on Mont Matthieu were 2 Choughs and a Honey Buzzard. 18 Ringed Plovers and 3 Dunlin were by La Tour Carree and up on a very windy Les Landes were 2 Wheatears, 3 Stonechats, a Kestrel and a Buzzard.
At St Aubin were 260 Black-headed Gulls, 10 Mediterranean Gulls and 16 Redshanks and on buildings at Beaumont, House Martin nest boxes were still active and Swallows were feeding young nearby.
3 Peregrines were seen together on the North coast, east of Crabbe.
